Introduction to Induction
My six-year-old son announced: “I hate Mondays” with a pout.
I know what he means very well.
I came up with an idea:
“We need to have a Monday to have a Tuesday. And we need to have a Tuesday to have a Wednesday. And we need to have a Wednesday to have a Thursday. And we need to have a Thursday to have a … Friday!”
He caught on: “And we need to have a Friday to have a Saturday! And we need to have a Saturday to have a Sunday!”
“That’s right, so in a way, we need to have a Monday to have a weekend.”
“And a Tuesday,” he replied.
This whole induction thing is going to take time to sink in. He’s got time.
